What a great cafe, full of History, for aircraft enthusiast must visit, a great secret cafe unknown to the general public.....
Google maps directs you to the wrong place, directly behind the actual cafe but no access. Must actually enter the airfield to get to it. Is a neat little cafe in a great location if you're into watching planes. Unfortunately the kitchen is closed until further notice so doesn't serve the menu the pictures here suggest. Drinks and light prepared snacks and soup is it.
Very good cafe and open to all whether you fly or drive in. Beware though that they close at 1500 and do not like food orders after 1430. Had an unfortunate visit last year in the height of the heatwave, arrived by air at 1445 and the unhelpful assistant wouldn't even give me a drink of water! One and only time I've had a problem and pleased to say that I haven't seen her since!
Great place on the airfield to grab a bite, it's *all* the way round the inner airfield perimeter road so keep the faith and beware the flight paths. Pub/cafe food, good portions. It's not posh but has tons of character, relaxed place.
Went for a private trip to the North Weald Aerodrome. An excellent day out. We had a buffet arrange, food very good, hot and fresh. They are famous for their 'doorstep' sandwiches, made with the freshest crunchiest bread you have tasted for a long time. Friendly service, they do get busy as they are home to the helicopters of the Ambulance Service and of course other visitors and people flying in.
